About me
Hello! I’m Hetty
I am a gardener and garden designer passionate about creating beautiful, meaningful and sustainable spaces. I began my gardening career working alongside Scott Melville, before working for award-winning landscape designer Sarah Eberle. I now work with Butter Wakefield, one of House & Garden’s Top 50 Garden Designers. These experiences have shaped my practical and thoughtful approach rooted in plants, place and the way a garden is lived in.
I offer gardening and garden design services for projects of all sizes — from one-off consultations, planting advice and border redesigns to complete garden transformations. Whether you need help bringing an existing space back to life or are beginning with a blank canvas, I would love to hear about your garden and discuss how I might help.
Alongside my gardening and design work, I write Still Growing — a newsletter sharing the quiet, ongoing lessons my garden is teaching me about patience, care and the slow work of becoming.
I write Still Growing for anyone who finds meaning in tending to things that grow slowly — whether that is a garden, a life or something in between. Through gentle stories and reflections from my own patch of earth, I hope to offer a moment of stillness and perhaps a small reminder that you are not growing alone.
Gardening & Garden Design Services
I offer thoughtful gardening and garden design for projects of all shapes and sizes — from small scale projects and ongoing care to planting advice and complete garden designs.
Having worked alongside some of the country’s leading gardeners and designers, I bring professional design experience together with a practical, hands-on understanding of how gardens grow and change.
I mostly use hand tools, working quietly and attentively to notice what each plant needs and how your garden is changing with the seasons.
My approach is collaborative, natural and grounded in the character of each place. Whatever your goals, I will work with you to create a garden that feels beautiful, useful and uniquely yours.
If you’re interested in working together, I’d love to hear from you.
